During the full Council Meeting on Thursday leader of the Liberal Democrats, Cllr Graham Longley, called for the Portfolio holder for Support Services to fall on his sword and resign over the mess of York Road Market.
The way the York Road Market decisions had been made were outrageous leaving businesses in limbo and failing to consult appropriately. The was doubt of whether of not the market was insured and although the local paper had suggested there was hope of it re-opening the recent cabinet meeting had made it clear it would not.
The Tory portfolio holder would not give an assurance that there was any hope only that the tories were looking into whether there was a desire for a market somewhere in the town.
Cllr Longley said that the portfoliop holder was giving false hope and dodn't really know what he was doing. He should follow the Japanese and fall on his sword."
