No to Switch-Off in Southend say the Lib Dems

Following the announcement by Essex County Council of the idea of switching off street-lights during the nighttime hours Cllr Graham Longley leader of the LibDems on Southend Borough Council was quick to ask the question as to whether a similar policy was being persued by Southend.
He immediately spoke to the officers and will raise questionbs to the tory administration at the first possible moment. Streets without Street-lights are like fish without chips. The two go together, he said.
There are many possible reasons why the small trial seemed to work but in an urban area darkeed streets will become an attraction for burglars and those up to no good. LibDems would oppose any proposal to put out the lights in Southend
