Possible overspends unacceptable say LibDem Leader

Reported overspends on Pier Hill projects up tp £5 million must be fully investigated and not swept under the carpet says Cllr Graham Longley LibDem leader on Southend Borough Council. An anonymous letter sent, apparently by a Civic Centre employee making the allegations should be taken seriously he said.
The fact that an employee felt the need to write to the Town clerk and the Leader shows that our employees have the towns welfare at heart and are clearly concerned for the future. The fact that the employee had to send it anonymously says more about the current atmosphere in the Civic Centre and the fear that employee must have if he/she did it publicly.
The Town Clerk needs to investigate this quickly and thoroughly and not leave it to fester over a number of weeks in order to give this employee and others the confidence that their complaints, when made, are taken seriously said Cllr Longley
