"Here we go again" said Cllr Graham Longley, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Southend Council, when the Tory administration announced that they were looking for an investor in the town's famous Pier.
Last time they advertised for an investor for the Pier they selected a company that had no real track record and finally withdrew after being found out to lack the necessary money to do the job. Liberal Democrats at the time warned the Tories about selecting the company but they were ignored.
Liberal Democrats have said time and again that the Council should seek local investment and not continue to spend huge sums of money seeking national and international companies who are looking for greater returns on their investments that the Pier can deliver.
"One day this Tory administration will learn"said Cllr Longley.
